I wasn’t going to be a designer. I started school as a dietetics major before being drawn to technical design—UX, interactive, digital design. Lettering was just a way to study typography and get away from the computer.
But then I got a job doing just that. In 2015, my career shifted as I fell in love with the mix of tactile physicality and digital expertise in social strategy, food lettering, photography, and styling.
Since then I’ve worked full-time as a freelancer, building, designing, and styling experiences from custom lettering for Polo Ralph Lauren, to social posts for Walmart, to hosting my own lettering workshop series, Lettering Time with Ari Woeste.
I’ll always love the technical aspects of my work, but I’m glad I’ve embraced the playful side as well.
For now, you can find me lettering for fun, driving around in my bright yellow car, and making as many dog friends as possible along the way.
